Is Web Scraping Legal?
When it comes legality web scraping is a complex subject but generally, web scraping is perfectly legal in most of the world as long as this criteria is met:
- The scraped data is publically available (meaning it's not behind a paywall or requires a login).
- The scraped data is not personal identifiable information (PII) or protected by copyright.
- The scraping process doesn't cause a denial of service (DoS) to the website being scraped.
- The scraped data is not being used for malicious purposes.
